Sandra Snyder is a former print journalist/columnist who just happened to write a lot about HOME but always had so much more on her mind.
This blog, which started as a homeownership blog, called The Hapless Homeowner in tribute to oh so much domestic joy and pain, is sometimes still about home and hearth but mostly about life in general.
Sayeth the esteemed and honorable Walt Whitman in “Leaves of Grass”:
“Oh me! Oh life! of the questions of these recurring …
“Of myself forever reproaching myself (for who more foolish than I? … )
Amen to that, Mr. Whitman! My friends, I truly have been such a fool sometimes.
“The question, O me! so sad, recurring — What good amid these, O me, O life?”
Answer:
“That you are here – that life exists and identity. That the powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse.”
Could not have said that better. (And, yes, I kind of want to jump on top of desks this minute and shout this sentiment at bright-eyed students, a la “Dead Poets Society.”)
Come along with me, if you’re so inclined, and let’s talk about this crazy train we call life.
